1. Esomeprazole and sodium bicarbonate combination is used to treat certain conditions where there is too much acid in the stomach. It is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). 2. Buffered esomeprazole (BE) is an oral preparation consisting of an inner core of non-enteric-coated esomeprazole with a shell of sodium bicarbonate. The buffer protects against acid degradation of esomeprazole in addition to immediate antacid action.
